Terms

1. Who we are
The emexLabs Developer Portal (developer.emexlabs.org) is run by emexLabs, Konrad-Wolf-Allee 30, 14480 Potsdam, Germany (see the Impressum). These terms apply to everyone who creates an account or uses the portal. The portal is free of charge.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 14 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you need the permission of a parent or guardian.
- Give a working email address and keep it up to date: we send confirmations, decisions and security notices there.
- An account belongs to one person. Keep your password to yourself. We recommend two-factor sign-in. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can delete your account at any time on the Account page. Keys that are still in the TrustStore have to be revoked first.
3. Organization identifiers
- An organization identifier (such as
com.example) is a namespace for your ROM identifiers. Only ask for one you have a legitimate claim to. Don't use names that suggest a connection to someone else, such as another company, project or person. - For a real domain we may ask you to prove you control it. Some namespaces (for example
org.emexlabsorcom.apple) are reserved. - We decide on every request and may decline it without giving reasons. We may take back an identifier that was obtained under false pretenses or that infringes someone else's rights.
4. Signing keys and the TrustStore
- Only register public keys whose private key you control. Never upload or send us a private key.
- Keep your private key safe and backed up. If it is lost or may have been seen by someone else, revoke it on the portal immediately. You are responsible for everything signed with your key until it is revoked.
- When we approve a request, your public key, its name and its ROM identifiers are published in the Nyxian TrustStore, which is public and downloaded by every device. Copies of published TrustStores can't be withdrawn.
- Being in the TrustStore means Nyxian trusts your signature. It is not a review, certification or endorsement of your ROMs by emexLabs.
- We may remove a key or limit its ROM identifiers at any time, including without notice, if it was compromised, if it signs software that breaks these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect users and devices. Devices then stop trusting what the key signed.
5. ROMs you sign
- You are responsible for the ROMs you sign and distribute, and you must have the right to distribute everything in them.
- Don't sign software that is malicious or deceptive: no malware, spyware, hidden data collection, attempts to break into other systems, or ROMs that pretend to be someone else's.
- Follow the law that applies to you and to your users.
6. Bug reports
- Describe problems accurately. Don't include other people's personal data, passwords or private keys in reports, logs or screenshots.
- Reports for a third-party ROM are shown to its developer, who handles them. emexLabs and that developer can see your report, its comments and files.
- By filing a report you allow emexLabs, and the developer of the affected ROM, to use its content to investigate and fix the problem.
- Don't upload files that are harmful or that you aren't allowed to share.
7. Fair use
Don't try to get into accounts that aren't yours, overload or attack the portal, get around its limits, or use it to send spam. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms, and remove content that does.
8. Availability
We run the portal on a best-effort basis and may change, interrupt or end it. We don't guarantee that it is always available or free of errors.
9. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and where the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz) applies. For slight negligence we are only liable for breaches of essential obligations (obligations whose fulfilment makes the use of the portal possible in the first place and on which you may rely), limited to the damage typical and foreseeable for this kind of service. Otherwise our liability is excluded. These limits also apply to our team members and helpers.
10. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for the future. We will tell you by email at least four weeks before a change takes effect. If you keep using the portal after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
11. Law
German law applies. If you are a consumer, this doesn't take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live.
